In the midst of all the hoopla and history-making, let's make sure we keep our heads on straight. Yes, we can celebrate and congratulate and commemorate (and we should), but we must never capitulate. We now have a president elect that has a few ideas counter to what our founding fathers' believed. As Abraham Lincoln stated, "Stand with anybody that stands right; stand with him while he is right and part with him when he goes wrong."
With a liberally controlled Senate, House and soon-to-be Executive Branch, well, we're in for an interesting four years. For all those God-fearing men and women who voted to put this man in office, you owe it to yourself and the rest of us to ensure we chart a God-fearing course. Or God help us, we will look you squarely in the eyes when the ship starts to sink and ask someone to sacrifice themselves to plug the hole in the bow.
Ronald Reagan offers us an appropriate perspective as we enter this next phase of American government. We would do well to consider carefully what the American socialist Norman Thomas said back in 1927: "The American people would never vote for socialism, but under the name of 'liberalism' the American people would adopt every fragment of the socialist program." Sobering indeed.

Am I assuming that you feel the same way about the mess George W Bush has left us with? I mean, can we sink any further than we already have? Rights of American citizens taken away without explanation, unfair imprisonment, record deficit, low morale in and out of the country, loss of jobs at a 14 year high.
I know that George W Bush is a Christian and I for one voted for him. But I am hoping to plug up the mess HE has made and I think Obama can do it. I voted with faith and don't doubt that this man can do what Bush should have done.
No doubt that the country has arrived at a difficult point with the economic situation, but it would be unfair to put all of that on George Bush or his administration. After two years of a Democratic Congress, the situation has only worsened. In just the first 10 months of controlling Congress, the Dems passed legislation that would increased federal spending by a combined $454 billion over 10 years and raise taxes and fees by $98 billion over 10 years and passed a budget resolution that would bring the tax increase to a projected $2.7 trillion. Regardless of what the Democratic Party and their media cohorts would lead the public to believe, Bush hardly carries the checkbook for the country.
I can't say what you mean by hoping that Obama "can do what Bush should have done", but if you're looking for someone who upholds constitutional rights (like the right to bear arms) or protects the unborn, you may have to lower your expectations. Senator Obama has done an outstanding job painting himself as a moderate, but he can't hide his record as the most liberal legislator in the Senate.
Still find it really sad that the elected leader of probably the most influential country in the world today is one that has made so much compromise to the Christian faith that founded the nation.
How the American people have put him there and how the rest of the world is giving him that loud applause just goes to show how our modern day generation is getting more and more trapped in the lies of the enemy.
Believe that we are definitely living in one of the most historical moments in time--that with everything that has been going on globally, Jesus is coming sooner than ever.
