I just love living in Mexico City where the possibilities for adventure are endless. Here's how last night went down.
Darren Hurst, a brother from Cal Poly SLO, is down here running around with us for a week. He's a true evangelist. He even wrote his own tract in Spanish to give people that he meets. The whole team went out for dinner last night, and then I convinced Caitlin and Darren to come with me to the Teatro Metropolitan to try to meet Jesse and Joy, two amazing pop musicians in Mexico.
Brief intro on Jesse and Joy...they're a brother/sister duo and recently won a Latin Grammy for top new artist. Since I heard that they were believers, I had hoped to meet them and invite them to expand their influence to help the college students of Mexico live for Jesus and reach their campuses for Christ.
So, last night, we headed to the concert. We arrived too late to get tickets, so I headed around back to try to meet them before they were whisked away. After hanging out with some security guards and talking through the Gospel for an hour, I had an opportunity to meet Jesse and Joy's father, who is a Mexican pastor. We ended up having a wonderful conversation for about half an hour! He invited me to come to his car and listen to some of Jesse and Joy's new album. He's a wonderful man with a heart of gold.
When Joy came out, I had a chance to meet her and explain the vision of Mexico Focus. I then invited her to perform at our upcoming event. No contract signed, but I'm in touch with her manager. Pray for it. She's good stuff.
Caitlin and Darren had a great time sharing Christ on the other side of the building. We then topped off our night with a ride home in a pirated taxi driving about 70 miles an hour through the city listening to music by Hell's Angels.
