A Launch Story

Here is a great movement-launching story. Michelle Craig, a super-sharp student from the University of Nebraska, joined us on the Mexico Journey summer project. Here is just one of her stories:

This summer was amazing! I came to Mexico knowing one Spanish phrase, but it didn’t hit me until I was actually there that I wouldn’t be able to communicate with the Mexican people at all on my own. It was really hard for me to just sit back, but the Lord immediately began to grow me as a prayer warrior, which was my main role on my team. After the first two weeks in Mexico City, I had accepted the fact that I wasn’t going to get to share the Gospel through my own words, but instead I would just be praying for my teammates as they spoke with students.

The first day that my team was in Guanajuato we decided to check out their main campus, Universidad de Guanajuato. We split into two teams to go out and talk with students. Within about an hour Jared and I were talking with a group of four students in English! They were studying for an English exam that they had that day. We began talking with them about spiritual things, why we decided to come to Mexico, etc. and they were really eager to hear the Gospel. The Lord allowed me to share, in English, with them my greatest passion-Jesus Christ!

All four accepted Christ and two of them are starting Life Transformation Groups on their campus (a girls group and a guys group). So through that one conversation we saw four people come into a personal relationship with the Lord and we saw two movements launched!

These students were so excited, one of them, Mirla, was clapping her hands and teared up. She said that Jesus was exactly what she needed. Another student, Cesar, told us that he had been interested in spiritual things, but everything that he had researched seemed so impersonal. Needless to say, he was so excited to know that he could enter into a personal relationship with the Lord.

Way to go Michelle and Jared!
